  6.  In a somewhat different way than our other sound-demos, Unit Seventeen
  7. presents you EPSS and the song Atomic Man.
  8.  
  9.  This demo is allowed to be freely spread as long as all the files
  10. listed in the end of this text are included on the disk or in the
  11. archive.

  13.  The song is made by Gem Two of Unit Seventeen and uses a betaversion
  14. of our own sound system EPSS which features following:
  15.  
  16. * 8 channel polyphony (depends on loaded sounddriver)
  17. * 25 kHz effective replay frequency (depends on loaded sounddriver)
  18. * Independent volumes and pitch on each sound
  19. * Independent stereo-panning of each sound
  20. * Variable looping of each sound
  21. * Unlimited samplelength
  22. * Maximum 256 sounds in one patch
  23. * Maximum 128 different sounds on every MIDI-channel
  24. * Velocity Variant Filter Emulation, VVFE, to achive filereffects
  25. * Subtones, make new sounds of existing samples with different parameters
  26. * Used integrated with your favourite sequencer
  27. * EPSS Export Driver for MROS(R) to be used with all MROS(R) based sequencers
  28. * Uses external sound-drivers which can support different hardware
  29. * Use the drivers in your own programs or demos for playing the songs
  30. * MIDI-In, Out and Thru
  31. * Replay possible from MID-files without any sequencer loaded
  32. * Integrated sample and sound editor
  33. * Direct loading of samples from Roland S-50-discs
  34. * GEM Multi-Window environment compatible with MultiTOS and Falcon
  35. * Runs both as Program or ACCessory

  39.  This demonstration is made using the Demonstrator-utility made by
  40. Legend Software and a selfrunning sequence is made for ST-medium
  41. resolution which shows you some of the features of EPSS. The
  42. Demonstrator is quite sensitive for resident programs, so if you
  43. experience any problems, please turn off your AUTO-programs and
  44. ACCessories. The demonstration is tested on the ST, STe, Mega STe and
  45. TT. The complete demonstration must have about 750kB free RAM to run,
  46. EPSS together with patch and song comsumes about 600kB.

  48.  The demo is made for running from a diskette, but the demo can also be
  49. run from a harddisk. When running from a harddisk, the configuration-
  50. file EPSS.INF must be copied to the bootpartition. The delay before
  51. the demonstration starts is set to 50 seconds.

  53.  When the demo has ended, you can explore the functions in the program.
  54. It is also possible to start EPSS.PRG instead of ATOMIMAN.PRG to skip
  55. the selfrunning sequence. EPSS.PRG can also be renamed to EPSS.ACC and
  56. be run as an ACCessory and play the song in the background.

  58.  The demonstration can also be run on a ST without any DMA-sound in
  59. medium resolution, by renaming the file EPSS.INF to something else
  60. and then rename the file EPSS_ST.INF to EPSS.INF.

  62.  It is also possible to run EPSS in a higher resolution than ST-medium
  63. by running EPSSMONO.PRG which is a monochrome demoversion of EPSS.
